Today’s visit was to Windsor castle, Cliveden and Fat Duck . Windsor Castle, built in 1060A.D., is located about 30 miles outside of London. It is the Queen’s Residence at this point. Buckingham Palace is her “second home”. It is quite a beautiful castle site and situated in an adorable town. Our visit was brief but informative.
Next stop was to Bray, where the very famous, 2 time BEST RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD, The Fat Duck is located. Heston Blumethal is a world renowned chef. His sensory food creations are his signature. We lunched at his sister restaurant, Hinds Head. Lovely, perfect pub fare.
Next stop Cliveden – a stunning, elegant country estate located on the Thames River. The drive up alone is worth the trip. The mansion was most recently home to the wealthy American Aster family. Prior to that, British aristocracy was in residence. The tapestries, paintings by Singer-Sergeant, oriental rugs, wooden beams and boughs give it the elegant feel of a Downton Abbey. The perfect place for a fabulous wedding. The house has 38 rooms and booking the entire residence is the key. I hope to plan a wedding there one day soon.
